Karen Day
Head of Health Systems Group, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences
The University of Auckland

Karen Day is a health informatician. She is a nurse and midwife, and has a BA in public health and health services management. Her Masters was in managed care for people with long term health issues, and her PhD in Information Systems was about change management linked to health IT project. She is now an academic, research and teaching about health informatics. She is the Programme Director of postgraduate studies in health informatics at The University of Auckland.

Karen’s health informatics dream is about giving a health informatics voice to people living with long term health issues. To achieve this dream, we need to build a health informatics competent workforce, turn the doctors' and nurses' computers to face their patients, and leverage technologies to deliver care where it counts – in our patients’ space, where amazing healthy things can happen.



Jo Scott-Jones
Medica Director
Pinnacle Midlands Health Network

Jo is a GP with a practice in Opotiki, a community he has served since 1992. Since starting work with Pinnacle MHN in September 2016, Jo's clinical work has been in practices throughout the network. As medical director Jo is the voice of general practice on the leadership team, and the face of Pinnacle general practice on numerous local, regional and national bodies. He has a role in practice liaison, quality, education and supports Ventures projects as well as being a great source of knowledge to the office team where he is constantly bombarded with "just a quick question".

Jo has had a long involvement in medical governance and has been the chair of the Rural General Practice Network, was the inaugural chair of the Rural Health Alliance Aotearoa New Zealand, and is currently an elected member on the board of the RNZCGP. He has been an examiner for the RNZCGP and a Cornerstone assessor.

Jo has suffered from multiple diplomatosis in the past. His last diploma was in clinical education, he has a masters degree in general practice and has vowed never to do another university paper ever again!



Nadine Barkay
Clinical Consultant
Ascom

Nadine Barkay is a Registered Nurse who is enthusiastic about the potential of digital health. Nadine is uniquely positioned to bring her clinical experience as an emergency nurse and midwife in both the public and private sectors over 20 years and as a Clinical Consultant at Ascom.

Her broad range of experiences helps improve the impact of technology and the critical workflows fundamental within the healthcare system.

Nadine’s passion for continued clinical process improvement and high clinical adoption improves patient safety, quality of care, and business efficiencies.

The digital health journey really motivates her, and she is excited about what the future holds.



Andrew Minett
FRNZCGP
CEO
Residential Eldercare Services

Andrew Minett has worked in Primary care in NZ since 1992.

Raised and Educated in the UK Andrew moved with his wife Elaine to NZ where he has worked in various roles in primary care.

Until 2016 Andrew was a GP principal and practice owner in the rural Waikato playing a prominent role locally and nationally in rural health, particularly around after-hours care.

In 2013 Andrew co-founded Residential Eldercare Services as cooperative venture between GPs and Nurse Practitioners, to improve care to residents of long term aged-care.

A pivotal part of his interest now is around group education and improving teamwork and communication between the various workforce entities.
