Nursing Informatics Special Interest Group (HiNZ-NI)

HiNZ-NI publishes a free quarterly eNewsletter with digital health updates of relevance to nurses.

What is Nursing Informatics?

The HiNZ nursing informatics special interest group (HiNZ-NI) supports the development of nursing informatics in New Zealand.

The IMIA-NI definition of nursing informatics is: “Nursing Informatics science and practice integrates nursing, its information and knowledge and their management with information and communication technologies to promote the health of people, families and communities world-wide.”

Our purpose is as follows:
  • To encourage nurses to engage with health informatics and with HiNZ.
  • Ensure nursing representation at the HiNZ Board
  • Acknowledge excellence in nursing informatics
  • To strengthen and advance the visibility of nursing informatics in New Zealand, internationally.
  • Strengthen and advance nursing informatics through practice, policy, innovation, leadership and research
