The Ministry of Health has completed a $48.5 million move to Revera’s all-of-government infrastructure-as-a-service platform with a contract running until 2027.
The Ministry’s Annual Review for the year ended 30 June 2018 was released this month. Among the big ticket IT items in the report is the Revera contract and a $6.6 million project with IBM to renew its software licences under a new contract until 2021.
The Ministry invested in a business intelligence tool this year called Qlik Sense. The project cost is estimated at $2.3 million and is on budget to complete in June 2019, but had a red risk-rating as of 30 June.
A data warehouse improvements programme began in January this year and is expected to finish in June 2020 at a cost of $2.6 million, while an email-to-Office 365 development project is expected to run over-budget at $1.6 million and around six months behind its original completion date of this month.
The Death Documents online project is estimated to cost $770,000 and to be completed by June next year.
The Ministry has had no data breaches over the past year, but has stopped more than 2.2 million potential cyber-intrusions.
The report says that 157 people were employed by the Ministry in information and communication technology services as of June 2018.
This is up from 108 the previous year because the National Collections and Reporting Team joined the unit in December 2017. Five years ago, 194 people were employed in ICT at the Ministry. Return to eHealthNews.nz home page
