SECTOR UPDATE - HiNZ

Health Informatics New Zealand (HiNZ) has announced a new chapter in its governance, welcoming a new board chair, deputy chair and three additional board members while acknowledging the significant contribution of several outgoing leaders.

Natasha Prendergast has stepped into the role of HiNZ board chair, with Niru Rajakumarappointed as deputy chair.

They are joined by new board members Ann Browett, Rowena Woolgar and Mark Dingle, who take up their roles as the organisation continues to evolve and strengthen its role in advancing digital health across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Prendergast says HiNZ is entering an exciting phase of development.

“HiNZ is building new partnerships, changing how we work, and deepening our reach across the digital health community. There is a lot of good work already in motion, and a clear sense of direction, and I am truly excited to lead the organisation during this next phase,” she says.

As part of the leadership transition, HiNZ recognises the outstanding contribution of outgoing board members Kyle Forde, Mark Shirley and Jono Hoogerbrug, who played a significant role in strengthening the organisation and helping shape its future direction.

Prendergast says as chair and deputy chair, Forde and Shirley were instrumental in supporting her own development as a board member, offering encouragement and guidance along the way.

HiNZ chief executive Alex Kemp says the outgoing board has laid strong foundations for the organisation’s future.

“Good boards set foundations that enable future growth, and that is the legacy this outgoing leadership leaves. We are grateful for what’s been built, and we are ready for what comes next,” she says
