In November 2023 more than 220 delegates attended the inaugural Tihi Hauora Matihiko in Kirikiriroa, Hamilton, to explore the potential of Māori and Pacific led thinking, action, and solutions in digital health.

This webinar delves into the themes and outputs of this HiNZ colab event and introduces the new micro credential in Applied Digital Health that a number of Tihi participants are now completing, taking learnings and actions into their own organisations.

Dr Mataroria Lyndon

Tend Health Co-Founder and Senior Lecturer in Medical Education, University of Auckland

Dr. Mataroria Lyndon is dedicated to improving health equity and the well-being of his communities. As a clinician, academic, and governance leader, his influence spans across health and academia.

Mataroria is the Co-founder of Tend Health and a Senior Lecturer in Medical Education at the University of Auckland. He holds a Master of Public Health from Harvard University as a Fulbright Scholar and was honoured as the Deloitte IPANZ Public Sector Young Professional of the Year.

In his governance roles, Mataroria serves as a board member of Te Aka Whai Ora Māori Health Authority, Pūtahi Manawa Centre of Research Excellence for heart health, and as a member of the Data and Digital Committee for Te Whatu Ora Health NZ. He previously held positions as the Deputy Chair of the Health Promotion Agency and as a board member of the Northland DHB.

With over 30 years of diverse management experience across various sectors, including business ownership, I thrive in environments that embrace a balance of professionalism and fun. I enjoy crafting flexible solutions tailored to the unique demands of our audience, unafraid to disrupt the status quo and explore innovative, outside-the-box strategies.

For the past 13 years, I have proudly contributed to a kaupapa Māori NGO He Waka Tapu, where I focus on reducing barriers, enhancing processes, and contributing to laughter within the workplace. I championed the implementation of a 4-day work week, emphasising 100% output efficiency in 80% of the time.



Dr Amio Matenga Ikihele

Moana Connect

Dr Amio Matenga Ikihele (Te Whānau-ā-Apanui |Niue) is a GM at Moana Connect. She has a background in nursing and a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Auckland where she is also an Honorary Academic. Much of her work and research focuses on the equitable use of digital health tools among Pacific communities. Amio was awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship and HRC Postdoctorate Fellowship in 2023, and has served on various advisory boards such as SparkHealth and Health Navigator NZ Trust. She currently sits on the Stewardship Group for MedTechIQ Aotearoa and the SCI Advisory Group for the Centre for Medical Device Technology (CMDT).



Tim Corbett
CEO
HiNZ

Tim Corbett joined HiNZ as CEO in February 2023. Tim has a strong background in digital health and media. He was previously involved in the STOMP research project, using text messaging to help people quit smoking, and has worked across the health sector engaging with providers, government agencies, iwi, NGOs and commercial organisations.

Tim was previously chief executive at the Sir John Kirwan Foundation and has lectured at MIT, Massey, AUT and Auckland University in health promotion, and led two specialist health advertising agencies.

Rebecca was previously news editor at Digital Health Intelligence in London and prior to that, was the senior health reporter at The Christchurch Press, where she won a NZ Canon Media Award and a NZ Reporting Diversity award. Based in Auckland, she is committed to communicating news, experience and knowledge throughout New Zealand’s data and digital health sector.
