Global healthcare technology company Lanas will acquire practice management platform indici, as part of a $150 million investment in New Zealand healthcare technology over the next two years. indici, founded in 2017, is used by more than 250 healthcare organisations across New Zealand and supports around 2 million patient records. The acquisition adds to Lanas’ portfolio of local investments that includes HealthLink, Toniq and KonnectNET.
A press release says that after the sale, indici will continue to operate with its existing customer focus and team, with day-to-day service and support continuing as usual.
Founder of Valentia Technologies, which developed indici, Ahmad Javad will continue to provide strategic advice on product direction alongside the Lanas team.
Lanas founder and chief executive Howard Beggs says the acquisition reflects the company's confidence in New Zealand's digital health sector.
"New Zealand has a strong track record of embracing digital healthcare and a healthcare sector that is willing to innovate, collaborate and lead," Beggs says.
"That is one of the reasons we are so excited about deepening our investment here for the long term - starting with the indici transaction.”
Javad says joining Lanas gives the indici product access to additional investment, expertise and scale, while allowing the team to remain focused on its customers.
The total $150 million investment covers a range of priorities, including developing and improving products, AI-enabled capabilities, infrastructure and interoperability, as well as further opportunities to invest in the sector.
When the transaction is completed, Lanas' total investment in New Zealand is expected to approach $200 million.
The company already employes160 people in Auckland and Christchurch and says more highly skilled employment opportunities are envisaged as the company expands its investment in the market.
