SECTOR UPDATE - AMS

In the challenging space of workforce management and payroll compliance, effective solutions require more than just software - they need an effective delivery approach that brings customers into the process from the start. At AMS, we believe co-design is key to ensuring solutions truly meet the customers’ needs; ensuring consistent practises and evidence-based compliance that is sustainable for the future.

Co-design is more than a delivery phase; it’s a partnership philosophy. Through long term commitment and going deep with our customers we’re able to shape solutions that are aligned with current needs and resilient enough to adapt with the legislative landscape and as Health NZ evolves.  It goes beyond traditional delivery models, enabling us to develop critical relationships and insights directly from those who understand the challenges within their organisation. The outcome delivers value for customers over the long-term.

Our current focus with Health NZ is the nationwide Rectification and Remediation Program and lifting the payroll landscape.  Faced with the need for a solution that would ensure compliance with New Zealand’s Holidays Act 2003, we partnered closely with Health NZ to co-design a process that would accurately address outstanding payroll obligations across the complex workforce. By working side-by-side, we helped Health NZ navigate complex compliance requirements and develop a standardised approach that could be applied consistently across regions. We are presenting on the challenges and successes of our journey at Digital Health Week.

AMS is proven with the 3 Auckland Metro Districts, resulting in both a process and compliant solution which is a solid basis for reuse for the other Districts to move quickly.

One of the key elements of our co-design model is transparency. In projects as intricate as the Holidays Act remediation, involving the right stakeholders is essential to achieving consensus and shared understanding.  Another principle is adaptability. With Holidays Act changes looming organisational needs shifting, solutions need to evolve too. Co-design enables flexibility, allowing us to refine processes and integrate feedback as we progress, ensuring that our solutions remain effective and compliant, even in dynamic environments.

In the end, co-design is about more than creating software - it’s about establishing partnerships built on trust, collaboration, and shared vision. By prioritising customer input and continuous improvement, AMS’s co-design philosophy drives meaningful, long-lasting outcomes that truly support our clients’ success.

Virginia Mitchell, from AMS is presenting on Wednesday, 4.30pm in Room 2.
