SECTOR UPDATE - CareHQ

CareHQ, the online GP service and joint venture between ProCare and Southern Cross, has expanded to include an injury assessment service to help make an employee’s back-to-work programme quicker and easier.

The virtual GP service has already been in operation for two years, providing essential consults for New Zealanders as traditional health services found themselves stretched through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now, CareHQ is also offering an injury assessment service with consults available for people who have been injured and need a GP to sign off their return-to-work plan.

This assessment can be fully or partially funded by the patient’s employer via a unique coupon code.

CareHQ Clinical Director Dr Reza Jarral said this service can help people return to work faster.

“If somebody is injured, an employer often needs them to follow a return-to-work plan that requires a GP assessment,” he said.

“Traditional GP appointments can be days or even weeks away at times, which delays that return to work, so a CareHQ assessment can help speed up the process.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has shown many New Zealanders how quick and easy telehealth services are, and we know CareHQ’s injury management clinic will deliver that same convenience for businesses and their people.”

Businesses wishing to use the CareHQ injury management service can be provided with a unique company coupon code that is used when an employee makes a booking for their injury assessment.

The business specific coupon code for the patient allows the consult to be fully, partially or non-funded by the employer.
Employees will also need a copy of their return-to-work or injury management assessment from their employer as a PDF or Jpeg, which is uploaded at the time of booking the consult.
