Shayne Tong
Shayne Tong has left his role as chief digital officer (CDO) at Te Whatu Ora, Te Toka Tumai Auckland (formerly Auckland DHB) to take up a position as CDO at Foodstuffs South Island.

Tong was at Auckland DHB for more than five years, where he oversaw the development of an Auckland DHB Digital Strategy and established an Auckland DHB Digital Investment Board to ensure the successful delivery of services and alignment to regional digital healthcare transformation.

As part of the Covid-19 pandemic response, he was the executive lead for the Northern Region for data and digital and he also chaired the National Digital Leadership Forum.

Following Tong’s departure, Greg Williams has taken up the role of Interim CDO for Te Whatu Ora, Te Toka Tumai Auckland.

A district spokesperson said that as a paediatrician with senior leadership and informatics experience, Williams brings a strong clinical focus to the role which will be valuable through the health system transformation.

Jaco Denton
Jaco Denton has been appointed Chief Information Officer at Health New Zealand - Hauora a Toi - Bay of Plenty.

Denton was previously the information technology manager for the district and takes over from Richard Li, who moved on to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority in May of this year.

Denton has 26 years combined experience within the ICT industry, with 21 years having been in predominantly Senior Management/Leadership roles within international enterprise organisations across large variety of corporate industries. With extensive involvement in advanced technologies, solutions, and strategic business management & decision making within complex enterprise environments.

He has a passionate focus on the individuals that functioning teams are dependent upon and fosters an attitude of striving for excellence and encouraging persistent innovation.

Kerry Youngman
Kerry Youngman joined Te Whatu Ora on the Hira programme as clinical principal advisor in June this year, coming from Medi-Map Ltd as project manager and clinical support.

Her background is as an anaesthetic technician, having trained in the UK then working in New Zealand after emigrating 14 years ago.

“I believe that healthcare should be easily accessible and meet the needs of the consumer and their whānau,” she says.

“Digital health technologies when developed and implemented in partnership with consumers, whānau and the workforce can help to do this.

“Working on the Hira programme I hope to support and advocate for consumers, whānau and the workforce to bring about solutions that can improve health outcomes and equity for New Zealanders.

Jean-Pierre Walle
Jean-Pierre is Te Whatu Ora – Health NZ healthAlliance Chief Information Security Officer for the Northern Region.

His role involves partnering with clinicians and technologists to keep health systems and information secure and people safe.

“We have a tremendous opportunity as part of Te Whatu Ora to continue to improve our cyber security systems and practices that underpin safe and equitable digital health,” he says.

“Ultimately, this work contributes to positive health outcomes for people in our communities and that is powerful motivation for me and everyone else here working in cyber security.”

Before joining the Te Whatu Ora healthAlliance data and digital team, Jean-Pierre worked for Downer Group where he was GM Cyber Security Governance and Risk.

Dale Bramley
Dale Bramley has been appointed Te Whatu Ora – Health NZ national director of improvement and innovation.

Te Whatu Ora chief executive Margie Apa says Bramley has a suite of experience in, and understanding of, driving health system change.

Bramley has been the CEO of Waitematā DHB for more than 10 years. He has also been a member of the national health committee, national ethics committee and most recently a member of the ministerial review committee for continuous improvement for the Covid-19 response.

“Change, innovation and improving equity have been constant themes throughout Dr Bramley’s career and he is keen to now focus on driving a sustainable uplift in quality and innovation across the whole health system,” Apa says.

Samuel Wong
Samuel Wong has been appointed general manager for product management at Manage My Health Global. He will be responsible for managing and developing the product functionalities of Manage My Health software products, relationship management and business development.

Wong is an award-winning health systems innovator, who has delivered health data-driven digital solutions and standards that have enhanced efficiency and contributed to effective integrated health care systems.

Vino Ramayah, chief executive of Manage My Health Global, said he looked forward to Wong’s contribution to MMH as well as his ongoing leadership role in the health sector in respect of information technology development.

Wong was joined by Cameron Hirst, as sales manager, and Diane Jones as general manager marketing and communications, in August.

James Taylor
James Taylor has been appointed integration lead at Spark Health and is responsible for leading Spark Health’s new Integration Platform, Tahi.

With over 20 years technology and integration experience from his first job was developing the One Staff rostering interface at Waikato DHB, he has had varied roles working for Cap Gemini, HP, Oracle and Orion Health as well as the Product Director for Rhapsody.

Taylor’ key focus is to make New Zealand communities healthier by making healthcare data more accessible to the sector. A Doctors surgery is not the only place Healthcare data is captured anymore. As we deal with COVID patient engagement is evolving, services are being introduced to patients as managed remotely.

Russell Berg
Russell has joined the Spark Health whānau as solution consultant and product manager of Kete Waiora.

He is a strong believer in the impact of transformation and change, whether digital or traditional, on the growth of an organisaiton and its ability to deliver value to staff and stakeholders, and most importantly customers and users.

Berg has experience in robotic process information and conversational AI, predictive analytics and machine learning. He's worked with numerous New Zealand organisations to successfully create transformative capabilities and deliver innovative solutions.
