Margie ApaChief executive of Interim Health NZ Margie Apa is calling on the data and digital workforce to join Health NZ and work in the health sector, “on the frontline of digital transformation”.

In a video address to ‘our data & digital whānau’, Apa says: “transformation is an exciting place to be, and we are committed to retaining and attracting great people within the health system to deliver the changes we need to make and improve people’s lives”.

She says the data and digital workforce is an important part of connecting up New Zealand’s system.

“We have a great opportunity ahead of us, potentially the opportunity of a lifetime… to build a national unified health system,” says Apa.

She describes the data and digital workforce as a “key enabler of the new ways of working” that will help Health NZ realise the transformation vision and fourth reform shift. This is that data and digital services will provide more people with the care they need in their homes and communities.

“Data and digital will transform how our people, whānau and communities experience and access care across Aotearoa,” says Apa.

This will be “nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored with a focus on new models of care enabled by the technology that you work with”.

She says the creation of Health NZ provides an opportunity for people who work in data and digital to be involved in building new modern capabilities, with exciting projects and programs offering individual career development.

“This is the place you want to be if you want to be part of an organisation with significant size and scale to deliver change that will benefit all New Zealanders,” she says.

“As the largest technology organisation in New Zealand, we have an amazing opportunity to be on the frontline of digital transformation. Our commitment to you is that we will navigate this journey together and we will grow and expand your career in digital health.”
