HiNZ considering implications for November conference
Wednesday, 6 October 2021
HiNZ welcomed the announcement from the Prime Minister on October 5 that the use of My Covid Record may help give more certainty and ensure greater safety of large-scale events.
Under current alert level rules, a large-scale event is unable to run unless the country is in Alert Level 1. The Ministry of Health has stated that the vaccine certificate app is due to be launched in November. Digital Health Week NZ is scheduled to run from 29 November to 1 December 2021 and the format of the event would make reliable social distancing difficult to achieve. There might be a change to the rules to allow large scale events using My Covid Record, to run under Alert Level 2 without social distancing, and HiNZ awaits clarification on whether this might happen, when it will happen, and how it might affect our conference. The HiNZ board and management team are assessing a range of options, including a possible postponement of the conference to 22-23 March 2022, and changes to the format of the conference with a combination of in-person and virtual formats. A final decision has not been made yet, as we are still working through the options, implications and contingencies. HiNZ has a board meeting planned for Monday 11 October and we hope to announce early next week whether we will go ahead with the planned November conference dates or whether we will postpone to March 2022.
HiNZ wishes to thank our members, speakers, delegates, exhibitors and sponsors for their patience and understanding. We are doing our best to find a way to safely deliver you the in-person customer connection event you want, within challenging times. If you have any questions about the conference and our contingency plans, please contact HiNZ CEO Kim Mundell. Read more Covid-19 news
