With the outbreak of Covid-19, face to face therapy for children in New Zealand is not going to be possible during the 4-week lockdown. HELPA offers the ability for providers to connect with families remotely so during this pandemic it's an even more valuable resource. Currently Autism New Zealand is in the trialling phase of HELPA with select families and it is being brought forward due to increased demand. They are finalising training this week to roll out over the next month and outreach support via the HELPA app will be accessible for all of its families.
Our partners are doing the following:
- BeChange has gone entirely online with their services. They are utilising HELPA and adapting parent workshops to on demand webinar series. They are providing teen mental health service via Zoom and are adapting their parent BOOST sessions to online.
- Autism NZ is delivering services remotely via HELPA. They have been trialling HELPA in their service delivery and the covid outbreak has brought that forward. They are finalising training this week to roll out over the next month and then imbed in their service delivery moving forward. They are finding the fact that HELPA is a platform where information can be stored and shared prior to a video meeting meaning it is all in one place to be really beneficial.
