Cavanagh moves to DIA
Monday, 11 March 2019
Ann-Marie Cavanagh is to take up a six-month secondment as director digital government strategy at the Department of Internal Affairs.
Cavanagh joined the Ministry of Health as chief technology and digital services officer in December 2016. Her role was disestablished last October in a Ministry restructure that created a new data and digital directorate.
She was acting deputy director-general data and digital until Shayne Hunter took over the role on 11 March.
Director general of health Ashley Bloomfield says, "technology is playing an increasingly greater role in the way health care is delivered.
“Our Ministry and indeed the wider system are well-placed to take on this challenge thanks to (Cavanagh’s) leadership and guidance over the past few years.
“With a background leading innovation in digital health, she took on the role of chief technology officer and set about building her team’s engagement with groups around the Ministry, while advocating for new digital innovations across the health sector,” says Bloomfield.
"I want to sincerely thank Ann-Marie and wish her well as she shifts to DIA and I look forward to continuing to work with her in her new role."
