Evan Blackman

Evan Blackman joined Navilluso Medical as chief executive in February, taking over from Jodi Mitchell who was in the role for nine months. Blackman came from Microsoft NZ and has a background working with high-growth organisations in the technology sector.

His role is focused on further growth of the iMOKO digital health service created by Lance and Tracey O’Sullivan, and helping deliver their transformative vision for primary healthcare.

“Digital technologies have a big role to play in addressing the inequity present in our health system, particularly for rural and Māori communities, who often find it difficult to access the primary care they need,” he says.

“Seeing the positive impact that iMOKO is having on children’s lives every day across the country, and the opportunity for real digital transformation of healthcare, were compelling reasons to join Navilluso.”

Tina Sun

Tina Sun has been a nephrologist at Counties Manukau Health since January 2018 and took on the clinical director of information systems role six weeks ago.

Sun sees her role as the bridge between clinical workforce and healthcare professionals and health IT system developers and vendors. She says her vision is “to constantly drive positive changes in health IT for better patient care and clinical workflow”.

“In addition, I believe there needs to be more regional and community collaboration for better and more transparent sharing of health information,” she says.

Shayne Hunter

Shayne Hunter starts in his new role as deputy director Data and Digital at the Ministry of Health on 11 March 2019. Hunter is currently chief information officer for Capital & Coast, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa DHBs.   

Hunter will be responsible for ensuring that the Ministry's data collections and digital technology support the health system to deliver better services and health outcomes. 

Fiora Au

Fiora Au is the general manager at John Kirwan’s new company, Mentemia, which aims to develop digital humans that can act as mental health coaches and counsellors. Simon Hartley is the company’s new head of technology.

Au was previously the business owner for the Amadeus platform at Orion Health. As general manager at Mentemia, she works across all functions, including strategy, product, sales, development, marketing, clinical governance and compliance.

“Our vision at Mentemia is to reverse the trend of deteriorating mental health that is at epidemic proportions across the world,” she says.

Alistair Mackintosh

Alistair Mackintosh has been appointed health sector telco lead at Spark. He will be working in Spark Health in a national role to help deliver the company’s vision and strategy, and is the fifth member of the newly formed Spark Health Squad led by digital health lead Will Reedy.

Mackintosh says the new role has overall responsibility for DHBs, PHOs, NGOs and the wider health community.

"It's very much aligned with the existing all of government procurement process, bringing together a consolidated view and product offering for health," he says.

Kevin Ross

Kevin Ross has been appointed chief executive of Precision Driven Health. He was previously the general manager.

Ross says PDH has reached a point where it has a range of partners and over $5 million per year in research investment, so it is appropriate to have a chief executive heading up the organisation.

“We are focusing on seeing our research follow through from data science to real impact on both health and commercial benefits to New Zealanders,” Ross says.
