Dr2Go gets Callaghan grant for remote blood pressure monitoring
Friday, 20 April 2018
Return to eHealthNews.nz home page Doctor2Go will receive a Callaghan Innovation Project Grant to help integrate blood pressure monitoring into its telemedicine service.
Doctor2Go offers consultations with doctors in different locations over a secure internet platform, with the assistance of smart medical diagnostic tools.
Company director Michael Haskell says the new blood pressure monitoring integration will allow doctors to remotely walk their patients through a blood pressure check using on-site healthcare tech tools that provide real time blood pressure results to the medical team.
The blood pressure monitoring service is already being trialled with insurance company nib.
Haskell says the Callaghan grant will help accelerate the development and roll-out of the new service.
Nib’s chief executive Rob Hennin says the Doctor2Go service has been integrated into the company’s wellbeing strategy.
“The platform is used on average 15 times per month and our people think it’s great,” he says.
“It provides them with the opportunity to consult with a GP quickly and conveniently without leaving the office. We believe that bringing this service into the workplace is going to redefine corporate wellness,” says Hennin.
Following integration of the new blood pressure monitoring tool, Doctor2Go will work to expand the suite of tools available for its telemedicine service.
