The Fellowship of HiNZ (FHiNZ) recognises leaders who have made a sustained contribution to digital health in Aotearoa New Zealand. Fellows are respected influencers, innovators, and advocates who drive digital transformation and improve health outcomes. 

Becoming a Fellow is more than an award—it’s joining a community of thought leaders committed to advancing digital health across Aotearoa.

Fellowships will be conferred at Digital Health Week 2025 in Ōtautahi, Christchurch (24–27 November).

What's New in 2025

Our Fellowship process has evolved to reflect international best practice and Aotearoa’s unique context. Key changes include: 

  • Applicants can now self-nominate.
  • The application review panel will include representation from industry, academia, clinical practice, and the health sector, ensuring balanced perspectives. 
  • An increased focus on demonstrating evidenced impact and real-world outcomes in the application process. 
  • A wider description of leadership and acknowledgement of transferable experience.
  • Expanded assessment domains including areas such as: 
    • Equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice 
    • Responsible innovation and data stewardship 
    • System foresight and collaboration 
    • Consumer-centered design and engagement 
    • Measurable impact and outcomes 

 

How do I apply to become a Fellow?

To be eligible for Fellowship, you must: 

  • Be a current annual financial member of HiNZ. Not a member? Its not too late JOIN NOW 
  • Have 10+ years of leadership experience in digital health or an equivalent field (including transferable experience). 
  • Provide two letters of recommendation, with at least one from a current Fellow.  If you do not know any current fellows, please contact Alex Kemp, Director of Engagement for an introduction. 

Before you apply: 

  • Review the assessment criteria to understand the minimum standards for eligibility.
  • Gather your CV, evidence of achievements, and recommendation letters.  
  • Once you begin the application, it must be completed in one session.
