Synopsis

Digital inaction is costing us - how can we transform as a nation?

New Zealand has long been considered a leader in global digital health with a vision for digital health
being well-established for over a decade. However, a lack of action on delivery has impacted our
ability to provide integrated care, and has increased direct and indirect costs to the health system.
What action is required today to ensure we don’t have another decade of inaction?

Stephen McKernan

Stephen is an extremely experienced executive who has earned a strong international reputation through operating successfully at the highest levels within the New Zealand health system. Since 2010 he has consulted internationally to a range of governments and health organisations and for the past 3 years has undertaken a range of consulting assignments within the social care and human service sectors. He has particular expertise in health system and social care design and performance improvement; the successful management of change; and development and leadership of large and complex organisations.

Stephen is an Honorary Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Health Management and the Australian College of Health Service Executives. He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Company Directors and in 2012 he was awarded the Companion of the Queens Service Order for services to the state.
