Synopsis

Are We There Yet?

We have all heard the promise of precision medicine and how we are heading to a medical future where “medicine” will be engineered for us, specific to our unique genetic code, it will get to the essence of who we are both physically and in mindset. In such a future what are some of the challenges we are going to face and what choices will we need to make to improve the lives of those we care for? Over the last five years Nigel has experimented with his own data, made some unexpected discoveries and formed some new habits. In this session Nigel would like to share his experiences in the hope that others can learn and shape their own journey to understand themselves better.

Nigel Parker

Nigel is a software engineer that leads teams of software engineers in Australia, Japan and the greater China region. His team’s mandate is to help some of the worlds largest and most influential companies solve their hardest problems through repeatable, collaborative and open engineering practices. In his life as an engineer Nigel has applied his engineering mindset to improve his own health and attitude toward habits, behaviours and change. Nigel has a Bachelor of Technology specialising in computer science and psychology and has spent his career building systems that augment and enhance human experiences through the use of technology.
