An Emergency Medicine specialist, Matt came to New Zealand in 2008 for a one year locum position, and never left. His clinical work has mostly been at Whakatane Hospital, where he has been the Clinical Lead for Emergency Medicine and Medical Lead for Whakatane Hospital. He has completed the post-graduate diploma in Health Informatics at the University of Auckland, and is the Clinical Director for Informatics at the Bay of Plenty DHB.

More recently, he has become a founder and the Chief Medical Officer for Cure8Health, a New Zealand health IT startup dedicated to putting individuals in control of their own health information.
