HiNZ-NMI Executive Responsibilities
The responsibilities and functions of the HiNZ-NMI Executive may evolve over time according to HiNZ and health sector needs and are guided by the purpose of the HiNZ-NMI.

To encourage nurses and midwives to engage with health informatics and with HiNZ
|
|
Increase nurses and midwives’ awareness of HiNZ-NMI group through the webpage and wider communications such as regular newsletters and social media.
Group members will actively promote the HiNZ-NMI group through various means such as using the HiNZ-NMII banner on email signatures to enable easy access to committee members.
Support and promote events that highlight nurses and midwives’ contribution to health informatics (national and international) through the HiNZ NI newsletter and other communications.
Keeping the profile of HiNZ-NM visible to promote health informatics as an essential part of nursing and midwifery practice as well as a potential career pathway.

Ensure nursing and/or midwifery representation at the HiNZ Board
|
|
To provide advice to the HiNZ Board on how best to maximise engagement with the New Zealand nursing and midwifery community.
Chair of HiNZ-NMI to maintain links to HINZ Board.
Use of liaison person on HINZ Board to link with HiNZ-NMI group and feedback to group regularly.
HiNZ-NMI group to establish and maintain links with key nursing and midwifery stakeholder groups – NCNZ, MCNZ, NZNO, College of Nurses, Nurse Execs, NETS, Chief Nurse and office (MoH).

Acknowledge excellence in nursing and midwifery informatics
|
|
To oversee the nomination and selection process for the Robyn Carr Cup for Excellence in Nursing Informatics, which is awarded annually at the HiNZ Conference.
|
|
To strengthen and advance the visibility of nursing and midwifery informatics in New Zealand internationally
|
|
HiNZ-NMI group nominee to represent NZ at IMIA-NI. Encourage HiNZ-NMI members to attend international IMIA and NI events (i.e., IMIA-NI events). Participation in international organisations such as IAHSI, AIDH, TIGER, ICN, HIMSS where appropriate.

|
Strengthen and advance nursing and midwifery informatics through practice, policy, innovation, leadership and research
|
|
Encourage nurses and midwives to discuss their research through the HiNZ-NMI newsletter as well as other forums and communications. Maintain a list of nursing and midwifery representation with relevant organisations. Promote this group to other organisations that may need a NMI voice such as Nursing Council and the Midwifery Council
|
