Tips for your funding application

Some of you will be required to submit a funding application to your managers to attend Digital Health Month in March 2022. HiNZ has put together some key points that you could include in your funding applications – please feel free to use them!

When and where will it be held?

The conference is on 22-24 March 2022, at TSB Arena in Wellington.

Why you should attend

Digital Health Month is the peak health event focusing on data and digital technologies for health and disability systems.

Digital Health Week 2019 had 1450 delegates, 350 speakers, 17 events, and 10 topic streams!

The event is only held once a year and it brings together all the key players within the digital health sector. Delegates include clinicians, IT professionals, health sector managers, government, industry, academics, students, and other NGOs. DHM builds and strengthens connections between these groups and encourages the sharing of ideas across the sector.

The event will open your eyes to the use of data and digital technology to achieve equitable outcomes, which Minister Little refers to in his 21 April 2021 speech when he described “five system shifts to ensure we have a health system that serves everyone":

The health system will reinforce Te Tiriti principles and obligations.
All people will have access to a comprehensive range of support in their local communities to help them stay well.
Everyone will have access to high-quality emergency or specialist care when they need it.
Digital services will provide more people with the care they need in their homes and communities.
Health and care workers will be valued and well-trained for the future health system”.

Keynotes will include:

Shayne Hunter, Deputy Director-General, Data and Digital from the Ministry of Health who will talk to progress made on programmes and services (including Hira), plans for future programmes and their potential impacts, and learnings to date
Ashley Bloomfield, Director-General of Health
Liz Schoff, Principal, Cybersecurity and Privacy Assurance, from Pleione Consulting, who will be speaking on Cyber Security: Getting Past the Tick Box

There are a variety of pre-conference workshops and meetings being held on 29 November, which will give you an opportunity to share experiences, update your knowledge, identify good practice and be inspired! These workshops and meetings will include:

There will be numerous networking opportunities, which include the networking events on Monday and Tuesday evening when you will extend connections and share knowledge.

You will be provided with an opportunity to enhance sector relationships, share ideas, contribute to discussions on good practice, and interact with sector colleagues. These relationships will assist your organisation to improve and strengthen their operations.
