Southern Cross Healthcare partners with MEG to support digitisation of healthcare clinical quality

New Zealand's largest independent private healthcare network to implement MEG’s quality management system clinical audit management app across all hospital sites.

Following a highly successful trial across the organisation Southern Cross Healthcare has announced full implementation of MEG’s healthcare Audit Management software into its network of hospitals. In the trial, initially in the area of Infection Prevention and Control audit, MEG was found to reduce manual auditing processes and free up staff to focus higher value work.

Continuing in its pursuit to deliver quality healthcare and be at the forefront of innovation, the decision by Southern Cross to move to MEG’s auditing system results in significant time and indirect cost savings, gives management visibility of performance across the organisation, and enables frontline staff to focus on patient care.

Included in this implementation phase for Southern Cross is the digital Safe Surgery Audit, an important element of New Zealand's Safe Surgery national programme led by the HQSC (Health Quality and Safety Commission) and focused on making surgery safer for patients by working to improve teamwork and communication in the operating theatre. Infection prevention and control audits, such as the national standardised Environmental Hygiene audit, also feature in this initial rollout.

Reflecting on the partnership between Southern Cross and MEG, Victoria Aliprantis, Chief of Quality and Risk had this to say,

The New Zealand partnership follows that of a recent similar project in Australia with Calvary Healthcare, cementing MEG as a leading player in these markets.
