SECTOR UPDATE - HiNZ Health Informatics New Zealand (HiNZ) and the Digital Health Association (DHA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise their partnership in advancing digital health and health informatics across New Zealand. The partnership will focus on three key areas; joint development and delivery of events and conferences related to digital health and health informatics; sharing of information, resources, and expertise to strengthen both organisations and their members; and exploration of joint opportunities that benefit the broader sector.
Alex Kemp, HiNZ chief executive, says the MOU formalises what has always been a natural partnership between the two organisations.
“We share the same vision for advancing digital health in New Zealand, and by working together rather than in competition, we can achieve far more than either organisation could accomplish alone,” she says.
“We are looking forward to working together to create meaningful opportunities that will benefit healthcare professionals and ultimately improve patient outcomes."
Stella Ward, chief executive of the DHA, says the partnership represents a significant step forward for New Zealand's digital health community.
"By combining our resources and expertise we can deliver greater value to our members and accelerate progress across the entire sector,” she says.
The agreement positions the relationship as one of partnership rather than competition.
As an initial step, the two organisations will be working collaboratively as co-hosts on the 2026 Digital Health Week event.
Running for an initial two-year period, it establishes a collaborative framework based on alliance contracting principles including shared objectives, open communication, and joint decision-making processes.

The DHA is New Zealand's peak advocacy and industry body for the digital health sector, working closely with senior government officials, industry leaders, and the broader digital health ecosystem to foster collaboration and innovation.
