HiNZ announces leadership transition
Thursday, 25 September 2025
SECTOR UPDATE - HiNZ Health Informatics New Zealand (HiNZ) today announced a planned leadership transition as the organisation prepares to welcome delegates to Digital Health Week NZ 2025 this November at Te Pae, Ōtautahi Christchurch.
Following the conference, HiNZ’s current chief executive, Scott Arrol, will step down from the acting role he has held since December 2024. Scott was appointed on an interim basis while the HiNZ Board considered longer-term leadership options.
The HiNZ Board has confirmed it will go to market to appoint a permanent chief executive, with recruitment beginning immediately. The successful candidate will lead HiNZ into its next phase of growth and continue its mission of connecting, supporting, and inspiring New Zealand’s digital health community.
Scott will remain closely involved with HiNZ in a new role as executive director, providing continuity and support to the incoming CEO, working closely with the executive management team, and acting as a valuable link between the board and new leadership.
“The Board acknowledges and thanks Scott for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and contribution to HINZ,” says HiNZ chair Kyle Forde.
“We are confident that this planned transition—supported by Scott’s continued involvement—will ensure continuity, stability, and ongoing momentum for our organisation and its members and we are delighted that he will continue to play a central role as we embark on the next chapter.”
HiNZ and its Board look forward to welcoming up to 1000 delegates to Digital Health Week NZ 2025 at Te Pae in Christchurch this November, where the organisation will continue its role as a trusted community for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and innovation in data and digital health.
