Streamliners opens campus in Ōtautahi
Thursday, 11 April 2024
SECTOR UPDATE - Streamliners Streamliners is opening a new building, as a part of the ‘Streamliners Campus’ on Acton Street. This is a direct result of their rapid growth over the past few years.
Streamliners was founded in 2000 by Emma Harding and Ian Anderson to support easier access to “on the job” information for workers in a range of industries. That led to the formation of HealthPathways, an online guidance tool used daily by tens of thousands of front line clinicians in New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
The pathways are informed by evidence, shared and improved by a collaborative community of more than 60 health systems caring for around 35 million people. From a staff of two in 2000, Streamliners now has a team of more than 150 globally. This is a brilliant local success story for Ōtautahi Christchurch: the company now employs more than 150 people globally, with approximately 130 people employed in Ōtautahi. The opening of the campus demonstrates Streamliners’ commitment to the city.
The opening marks the role the Streamliners plays within Christchurch (and the wider community), particularly in regards to: - Employing and growing people into high tech knowledge-based roles
- Weightless exports
- Bringing global scale to improve the New Zealand health system
Non-profit ownership model Streamliners is owned by The Joined Up Systems Trust (JUST) and Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand), with JUST acquiring 80% ownership of the company as of June 30, 2023. The remaining 20% ownership is held by Te Whatu Ora. This ownership structure ensures that Streamliners remains aligned with its founding principles and purpose of improving global health and wellbeing.
