SECTOR UPDATE - Dedalus It is well recognised that healthcare digitisation is part of the changing landscape of healthcare around the world. At Dedalus we have access to significant global digital solutions which we are bringing into the Australian and New Zealand healthcare sectors. We strive to ensure these solutions are fit for purpose and adhere to the differences in clinical practice within each region as well as being compliant with the local legislative and regulatory requirements. The Dedalus teams include experienced clinicians, as well as experts from related disciplines. A dedicated global “Medical Office” team advises the Product Business Unit for each solution on standards and guidelines, and the Clinical Safety Team oversees development to ensure the solutions are developed in the most clinically appropriate and safe way. This approach enables us to bring solutions such as the ORBIS Electronic Medical Records (EMR), amPHI prehospital care record, and Swiftqueue outpatient appointment management system, into the Australian and New Zealand markets. These solutions expand on the already significant software footprint we have in New Zealand with iPM, webPAS, Medchart and ePharmacy. ORBIS Electronic Medical Record (EMR) ORBIS, Dedalus’s flagship EMR, is based on more than 25 years of experience, operating in over a thousand European hospitals, including in Germany and France where it is the number one EMR measured by hospital install base. In France, the ORBIS solution supports 39 hospitals, 21,000 beds, and handles over 11,000 admissions daily at The Assistance Publique-Hopitaux de Paris. Usability and efficiency of use is a prime focus of ORBIS. Our health systems face significant challenges, and it is imperative that EMRs empower and support clinicians, who face constant demands on their time, energy, and their ability to focus on patient care. The ORBIS teams in Dedalus constantly work towards the following goals: - Reducing the time clinicians spend on clinical documentation by focusing on workflows rather than functions.
- Reducing cognitive load through presenting consolidated and easily digestible information through the advanced, time-based ORBIS Patient Chart, and dashboards (e.g. personal dashboard, patient dashboard, and disease dashboards).
- Improving patient safety through fostering adherence to best practice medicine.
- Increasing access to information at the point of need through device-independence and mobile support, giving clinicians access to patient information, and allowing them to perform assessments and place orders (Pathology, Radiology and Medications) on the go. Notifications ensure clinicians always receive important test results and referrals as soon as they are available.
Interoperability for ORBIS is provided through DC4H (Digital Connect 4 Health), Dedalus’s powerful Integration Engine. All information about the patient’s condition is recorded continuously during the prehospital stage. This includes measurements from the ambulance’s patient monitors which are transferred automatically to amPHI. This ensures an optimum clinical pathway, faster diagnostics and more effective treatment for the patient. amPHI can be enhanced with a number of different modules, including support of the EMC function (Emergency Medical Coordination) in case of major accidents and disasters. amPHI is installed in Denmark and Sweden. In Denmark there are over 650 amPHI equipped vehicles including ambulances and rescue helicopters covering a population of 6.9 million people across 5 regions with over 11,000 users.
