Kari Jones
Kari Jones has accepted the role of chief data officer for Te Whatu Ora and will join the team on 13 November 2023.

Jones is the general manager for analytics and insights with Woolworths Group where she leads their data, analytics and insights capability that is responsible for driving analytics transformation and enablement end-to-end. She is also responsible for leading culture transformation around data through the Woolworths Data Academy.

Over the last decade, Jones has honed her analytical skills and executive-level management experience from a range of well-known New Zealand companies, including Woolworths, New Zealand Post, Statistics New Zealand and Air New Zealand. Within these companies, she achieved significant results - increased their digital and analytics maturity, improved customer focus, and made them more effective.

Matt Waitai-Connor
Matt Waitai-Connor has been appointed director of data at Te Aka Whai Ora - Māori Health Authority.

Formerly General Manager of modern devices and business operations at Ingram Micro NZ, Waitai-Connor has a strong background in business, operational data management and tool development.

His role at Te Aka Whai Ora will be to develop and lead the organisation's data strategy, transforming insights and digital solutions into actions - empowering iwi and hauora providers to positively impact Māori health outcomes.

Jasmine Reynolds
Jasmine Reynolds has been appointed director interface – data & digital at Te Aka Whai Ora.

In this role, Reynolds is responsible for supporting the engagement with Māori Iwi Partnership Boards and related stakeholders, leveraging technologies to transform the status of health for Māori.

Over the last 16 years she has worked across Australia, New Zealand and the USA to support multi-national companies transform their digital technology with a specific focus on integrating e-commerce and digital marketing solutions. Prior to this, Reynolds spent eight years working to drive Māori focused tertiary education outcomes at the University of Waikato and Massey University.

Nancy Taneja
Nancy Taneja has been appointed GM security capability & partnership at Te Whatu Ora.

She has also been recently recognised as the Cybersecurity Woman of the Year 2023

Taneja is a seasoned ICT and cybersecurity leader with more than 23 years of global experience, with previous roles across the health sector including chief technology officer, programme manager, and recently chief information security officer - primary health sector for Te Whatu Ora.

The new role will ensure that the Te Whatu Ora cyber team, and wider workforce, are empowered with the relevant knowledge, skills, and awareness to manage ever-evolving cyber security risks and threats.

She will also work to align all digital and data enabled initiatives to embed a secure by design ecosystem while increasingly collaborating with wider sector, security, and health agencies to establish shared pathways for improving cyber security capability across the board.

Ryan Sione
Ryan Sione has dedicated the past three years to Spark Health as the Māori Health Lead, primarily serving the Te Manawa Taki region. His role involved crafting Māori and Pasifika health strategies for the team while offering support to various hauora and community providers across Aotearoa, particularly in localities.

Sione is now transitioning to a more impactful position as principal advisor operations with Ngāti Raukawa. Here, his focus is on spearheading, conceptualising, and executing tangible change at the grassroots level by assisting iwi, hapu, and marae within the Raukawa rohe, striving to enhance the well-being of these communities. This move promises an exciting opportunity for transformative influence.
