SECTOR UPDATE - Healthpoint

Understanding the critical state of childhood immunisations and the recent measles and pertussis cases in Aotearoa, it is more important than ever that New Zealanders can confidently find where to get vaccinated from a range of health providers.

The national immunisations services directory has been designed with district immunisation colleagues, vaccination providers (including Hauora Māori providers) and by leveraging Healthpoint's learnings from the development of the national COVID-19 vaccination service directory (also available on Healthpoint).

Healthpoint’s Immunisation Services Directory will:

  • Enable easier navigation for public, community and whānau to find vaccination options
  • Support Whakarongorau Aotearoa’s help-lines and navigators to guide clients through their vaccination options
  • Support district, locality and national vaccination campaigns, connecting communities to find vaccination options
  • Empower vaccination providers to describe and update how they are vaccinating, and the disability assistance they offer
  • Provide a scalable and dynamic solution for up-to-date vaccination service information

To coincide with the start of the 2023 Flu campaign (1 April), the directory is now live on Healthpoint; Flu, MMR, Pertussis and Meningococcal vaccination providers have been mapped across Aotearoa (www.healthpoint.co.nz/immunisation/).

To support fairer access to care for all, the directory makes it easier for hapū māmā, tamariki, whānau and navigators, to find a service that best meets their needs (immunisation type, locality, access options e.g. no appointment required, and available disability assistance).

The directory includes GP, Community Pharmacies, and Covid Community Health providers; and this information can be used for any national or local immunisation campaign, and digital platforms, using the Healthpoint API (https://www.healthpointapi.com/).
