NEWS After eight years at the helm of Health Informatics New Zealand (HiNZ), Kim Mundell has decided to step down, effective 31 May 2022.
The board has appointed Kylie Williams, HiNZ sales and marketing general manager, as acting chief executive from 1 June 2022.
Williams says, "Mundell leaves big shoes to fill, but we are delighted that she will continue to provide advisory services to HiNZ as a part-time consultant after she exits the chief executive role”.
Williams brings a wealth of expertise to the role: her CV includes senior marketing roles at Microsoft, World Vision, and the BBC. Mundell says, "HiNZ will be in very capable hands with Williams at the helm. She is well known to most of our sponsors as an excellent media strategist and she has the full support of the HiNZ team and board."
HiNZ board chair Karen Blake says Mundell’s leadership over the past eight years has been exceptional. "Her vision and drive has transformed HiNZ from a small volunteer association into an influential professional association that delivers world-class media and events," says Blake. During her tenure, the HiNZ Conference grew exponentially, becoming the second largest health conference in New Zealand, with a comprehensive video library of 1500 presentations. Digital Health Week NZ in Hamilton in November 2019 had 1400 delegates, including 300 speakers and 120 exhibitors. The next in-person HiNZ Conference is in Rotorua on 5-8 December 2022.
The Covid-19 pandemic meant that HiNZ needed to reshape the services it offers to members, and Mundell was the driving force behind the invention of eHealthNews, Digital Health CONNECT magazine, the Leadership Summits, and the innovative format of the first fully digital HiNZ conference in March 2022.
Mundell is leaving HiNZ to focus her energies into her consulting business, Mandeville Limited, which has provided media, event, and coaching services to a wide range of clients since 2011.
