Sonny TaiteSonny Taite (Ngāi Te Rangi)
Sonny Taite takes up the new Te Waipounamu - South Island Regional Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) role in March 2022.

He will lead the DHB information security strategy, while advocating for cyber related risks at senior management levels. Located in Canterbury, the role is accountable to a South Island regional governance group and Taite will work with other regional CISOs under a new national cybersecurity governance structure.

His background is in specialist security intelligence roles for New Zealand Defence and senior business leadership roles with Datacom Group. Most recently, he worked as a social innovator and technologist with Tokona Te Raki, under the mana of Ngāi Tahu.

Taite is focused on roles that have significant purpose for the local community and wider Aotearoa New Zealand.

“Protecting our health data, while ensuring we deliver the outcomes our community needs, has never been more important,” he says.

 

Peter BoothPeter Booth
Peter Booth has been appointed Chief Information Security Officer for the six Central Region District Health Boards, based at TAS.

Four regional CISOs cover the 20 DHBs and Booth is excited to take the Central Region forward as health sector reforms take shape.

“It’s exciting to develop cybersecurity in this region. Working intelligently and collaboratively, we can make good security just how it’s done,” he says.

Booth landed in security while working in US banking. He returned to New Zealand for roles at NZ Post, Contact Energy and as Head of Security at Waka Kotahi, taking their security environment from reactive to proactive, making best practice integral to the ecosystem.

TAS director, regional digital health services, Charlie Sturman, says, “(Booth) is already using his expertise to lift security maturity across the region.”

 

Richard HarrisonRichard Harrison
Accenture New Zealand has appointed Richard Harrison to lead its dedicated security practice.

“I’m excited about the challenge of helping to protect and improve the security of NZ businesses and agencies. Accenture is recognised globally for its suite of managed security offerings, and I look forward to extending these services to the NZ market,” he says.

Harrison comes to the role with a wealth of experience from his previous position as Chief Information Security Officer at healthAlliance.

During his 5-year tenure he was pivotal in developing and implementing strategy to improve cyber-resiliency of the Northern DHB’s and protecting clinical services from cyber-attacks.

 

Stella WardStella Ward
Stella Ward has joined HPE NZ as the PointNext Sales Lead a senior executive role within HPE South Pacific.

HPE has an industry leading methodology in adopting a hybrid cloud environment and a set of services and technologies that can enable edge -to -cloud platforms to support organisations with their data and digital modernisation.

“I am thrilled to be joining HPE as I know there are many services and solutions we can offer to New Zealand organisations to support their data and digital journeys,” says Ward.

“Having a strong understanding of the Health Sector I hope to be a trusted advisor and partner to the New Zealand Health system as it looks to enhance the digital experience for clinicians and our communities.”

 

Florian StroehleFlorian Stroehle
Florian Stroehle has been appointed Alcidion’s director of strategy and business Development, based in Auckland.

He joins Alcidion with 12 years’ experience in strategy and sales in New Zealand, Australia and across the world to deliver transformative outcomes. He understands the ANZ digital health context and is passionate about helping healthcare executives solve complex problems to improve safety, effectiveness and efficiency.

As a member of Alcidion’s senior leadership team, Stroehle will refine the go to market strategy, explore new territory opportunities and manage the ANZ sales and business development team.

“The role is made easier by Alcidion’s talented people, modern technology and vibrant culture. We share a singular focus, to improve outcomes for health services, clinicians, and ultimately, healthcare consumers,” he says.

 

Scott ArrolScott Arrol
HiNZ board member Scott Arrol has accepted the role of chief executive for Motor Neurone Disease New Zealand, commencing on 14 March.

“It is an exciting opportunity to lead this small but well-formed organisation that provides amazing levels of free support to people in New Zealand living with MND, a degenerative disease with no cure,” he says.

Arrol is moving on from his position as chief executive of Dementia NZ.
“After a lot of consideration I felt that the new role was where I can best utilise my knowledge, connections, and skillset over the coming years,” he says.

 

Mark LiddleMark Liddle
The board of Pegasus Health Charitable has appointed Mark Liddle as its new chief executive, after one year in the acting role.

“The appointment follows a process by the board to appoint a chief executive with the right mix of skills to navigate a strong path forward, as we move through the health reforms,” board chair Peter Townsend says.

“We are pleased to have appointed from within Pegasus as it shows the strength of leadership we have within the organisation.

“Mark’s leadership skills are outstanding and he is the right person to ensure a strong position for Pegasus in the health sector.”
