SECTOR UPDATE - Guardian Support Services

Founder John Bennett, announced the release of Guardian Support Services on the 1st of November 2021, with the introduction of the LifeGuard range of products. This targeted selection of IoT and GPS devices brings a foundational offering, designed to support caregivers and the family of people living with Dementia/supported living needs.

Bennett explains “Over 3 years of testing and development we’ve been focusing on a core range of products that will support some of the caregiver needs, while their people move along a progressive journey. The objective is to minimise risks associated with gradually reducing social orientation or impaired cognitive abilities, and bring peace of mind to family and caregivers.”

This is a self-managing model, giving family or caregivers the ability to gain feedback from IoT and GPS devices through connected apps. The adoption of these technologies will potentially enable the person to stay in their home environment for a longer period of time while minimising safety and wellbeing concerns.

We have partnered with one of the world’s leading IoT module manufacturers to create the LifeGuard range of products. This partnership offers a stable, reliable and secure WiFi product and platform. We have also been fortunate to have developed a partnership with OSmile, an international manufacturer of healthcare products for the Global marketplace.

Bennett goes on to say that “Although our background is not from a clinical foundation, we know first-hand some of the challenges faced by carers. The combined applied abilities of co-founder Anthony Morse and myself in the fields of Systems, Creative Thinking, Procurement and Full Stack Integration offers this sector the development of support solutions through technologies and devices.”

We’ve adopted the ruru (morepork) as our logo / icon because it represents the ‘watchful guardian’. It’s our goal to help families and caregivers remotely manage the safety and well-being of their loved ones or clients who are living with Dementia or needing supported living. When I see the image of the ruru it empowers me to be the best kaitiaki I can be to my wife Nikki, who was diagnosed with (PCA) Alzheimer’s a couple of years ago. At times when Nikki struggles to explain a thought, I find myself just gazing at her as she grasps for the connections that make communication possible - it’s then I feel a connection with the ruru, the watchful guardian.”
