The HealthOne shared care record for the South Island is being accessed more than 10,000 times a day by clinicians working across more than 500 organisations.
The system is also now integrated with the region’s six managed isolation and quarantine facilities (MIQ).
HealthOne general manager Rachael Page says after a decade of year-on-year growth in use, HealthOne is now central to the clinical workflow for almost 30,000 clinicians who rely on the platform.
HealthOne collects and holds a summary record for every patient in the South Island, including information such as, prescribed and dispensed medications, allergies and alerts, adverse reactions and observations.
There are more than 200 million pieces of data stored and more than 300,000 views per month.
Page says when a patient is outside their normal care setting, such as visits to emergency departments or after-hours clinics, is when the shared care record is most valued and medication information is the most accessed area.
An integration recently went live with the Border Clinical Management System from Valentia, which is used to monitor the health of guests in MIQ facilities.
“Although most guests in MIQ are well, for those who are unwell it is critical the clinicians are able to easily understand any underlying conditions to provide better, safer care,” says Page. “Clinical events and care provided is recorded in BCMS and becomes part of the HealthOne shared record.”
The shared care record system also now provides access to 42 aged residential care facilities, private hospitals, the Department of Corrections and the City Mission.
“HealthOne is enabled by a class leading FHIR API interface, and an advanced data extractions service to ensure the highest quality information is consistently updated into the secure FHIR database,” explains Page.
“This means the shared record is always fast, reliable, and accessible - even if a contributing system is offline.”
