reScript provides a secure and convenient digital solution to get Signature Exempt Prescriptions from GP, to patient, to pharmacy. As well as freeing up valuable time for everyone, reScript supports the New Zealand-wide effort to minimise social contact during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To help our community during this time, we are providing reScript free of charge for all new and existing customers for the foreseeable future.

The reScript service is compatible with all GP practice management systems and provides GPs with the ability to issue prescriptions virtually for patients, meaning it’s safe and hands free. Patients don’t need to physically present at the practice to collect their script.

How does reScript work?

  1. The GP generates a prescription but instead of printing the prescription onto paper, the GP “prints” to reScript.
  2. reScript sends a text message to the patient’s mobile phone. The patient can then choose their preferred pharmacy to pick up their medication from; the GP doesn’t need to do this.
  3. The selected pharmacy receives a copy of the prescription by email or fax. The pharmacist can then prepare and dispense the medication.
  4. The patient visits their chosen pharmacy and collects their medication. (We are working on supporting community pharmacy to deliver medicines directly to the patient.)

Practices also have the option to provide an easy online payment method for patients to pay for their scripts and virtual consults using the rePay companion service.

Please note that GPs and pharmacies need to be NZePS enabled to use reScript.
