Precision Driven Health has today announced that its chief executive officer Kevin Ross has been selected to deliver a presentation on ethical machine learning at the 2020 HIMSS Global Health Conference and Exhibition.

Ross has also been invited to be a panellist in the AsiaPac Summit during the global conference. HIMSS20 brings together nearly 50,000 health information and technology professionals, clinicians, executives and market suppliers from around the world.

In his session, ‘Ethical Machine Learning’, Ross will discuss the ethical challenges related to developing and deploying machine learning models. More specifically, this session will outline the types of ethical questions that should be asked to ensure machine learning models are developed with transparency and public trust in mind.

“The potential to improve health outcomes through machine learning is inspiring, and we have a responsibility to value the people whose data is involved in building our models,” says Ross.

The theme for the HIMSS20: AsiaPac Summit is ‘From Volume to Value to Sustainability’. This summit creates a forum to compare and discuss Asian and international approaches toward value-based care.

The panel discussion will focus on Preparing Data and Redesigning Metrics for Value-based Care, and Ross will join experts from South Korea and Thailand to give a New Zealand perspective on the importance of data to improve health outcomes.

Ross says it’s important to consider the sustainability of healthcare across our region.

“The Asia Pacific region, like the rest of the world, is facing major challenges in keeping up with growing demand for healthcare services. This conference brings together almost 50,000 people from around the world to discuss how information and information technology can enable us to meet that demand. HIMSS20 is an ideal place to see how the latest innovations are transforming health services,” says Ross.

HIMSS20 will take place from Monday 9 March to Friday 13 March, 2020, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Ross’s educational session will take place on Tuesday 10 March, 1.30pm ET. The AsiaPac Summit panel discussion will take place Wednesday 11 March, 8.45am ET.
