Grainger becomes fellow of International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics

Consultant rheumatologist and Health Informatics NZ board chair Rebecca Grainger has become a fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics.

Terry Hannan, consultant physician and visiting fellow at the Centre for Health Informatics, Macquarie University, Sydney co-nominated Grainger with the director of the Centre, Enrico Coiera.

Hannan, who is an inaugural fellow of the academy, said “there could be no better nominee than Rebecca Grainger based on my assessment of her talents”.

Grainger is also a senior lecturer in medicine and pathology at University of Otago Wellington.

She says, "it’s a real honour to be appointed into the Fellowship, joining so many international experts and leaders in health informatics.  I hope to continue to contribute to the vibrant and energetic digital health community in New Zealand."

The mission of the IAHSI is to “stimulate progress in informatics research, education and practice, advise governments and organisations on developing health and science through informatics and share and exchange knowledge among members and stakeholders”.
