Alex Kemp, CEO

Alex joined the HiNZ team in June 2024 as Director of Engagement, coming from a role in consultancy at PwC. Alex is a Speech Language Therapist by background, and has over 25 years’ experience working across the health, disability, and education sectors both in New Zealand and in the UK. She has senior and executive leadership experience of over 10 years, and has held several digital and data governance roles including being a previous chair of CiLN and a past HiNZ board member. She is the co-chair of the Digital Equity Reference Network.

Alex’s role is to develop relationships across the sector to ensure that HiNZ is responsive to the changing needs of its members. She brings extensive engagement experience and a strong understanding of the health, disability and social sector, with proven experience in building strong relationships and partnerships, with a focus on equity.

Alex is neurodivergent and the mother of neurodivergent children. She has developed a passion through both her professional and personal life for inclusion, accessibility, and equity, and is often asked to speak on these topics.

Scott Arrol, Executive Director

As CEO, Scott has extensive leadership experience in New Zealand’s health and disability sectors that has included digital health, telehealth, community and mental health, disability services and aged care. He is also an experienced governance professional and is currently on the boards of Health Navigator Charitable Trust and The Disability Federation. Scott provides consulting, governance and contracting services across various organisational entities including not-for-profit, for-profit, charities, associations and NGOs.

Rebecca McBeth, Editor, eHealthNews

Rebecca McBeth joined the HiNZ team as editor of its new publication, eHealthNews.nz, in January 2018.

Rebecca was previously news editor at Digital Health Intelligence in London, where she lived for five years. Prior to that, she was the senior health reporter at The Christchurch Press, where she won a NZ Canon Media Award and a NZ Reporting Diversity award. Now based in Auckland, she has worked in communications for the health technology sector since July 2017, trading as McBeth Communications.

Romit Prakash, Sales and Partnerships Manager

Romit joined HiNZ in October 2023, as Sales and Partnerships Manager, bringing over 20 years of combined Strategic Leadership, Partnerships, Sales, Marketing, Governance and Board leadership experience from New Zealand, Fiji and the Pacific Islands.

His role includes building and nurturing Partnerships and Relationships with the Partners and Stakeholders. His experience in diverse sectors & roles, from Lecturer to Management to Executive Board Leader in (Not for Profit, Development, Donor, Automotive, Banking & Finance, Petroleum, Energy & Gas, Manufacturing and Telecommunications), with United Nations, Toyota Tsusho, ANZ, Goodman Fielder, Bank of Baroda, Giltrap Group and Digicel, enables him to lead and build strategic alliances with our Partners.

A graduate in Bachelor of Science (Information Systems and Management & Public Administration) and Master of Business Administration, Romit is also an Associate Fellow of Institute of Managers & Leaders, Aust./NZ, Associate of Institute of Management NZ , Member of Institute of Directors NZ and Member of Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Georgie Shepherd-Bell, Administrative Co-ordinator

Georgie Shepherd-Bell joined the HiNZ team in September 2023, to provide administrative assistance and membership management. She has a master's degree in English and New Media Studies during which she was self-employed as a tutor and editor.
