Apply to be a student volunteer for the HiNZ Conference

Statement from a previous HiNZ volunteer

I was a graduate student in health informatics, given the opportunity to attend the HiNZ Conference. This was my first conference in the informatics field and it provided a great learning experience. Meeting conference attendees from all over New Zealand and internationally helped me to understand and appreciate what other people are doing in their practice and the career paths that lead there. This broadened my horizons and gave me many useful ideas for my practice. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to attend and experience the vibe of the informatics world.

Each year, HiNZ assembles a team of student volunteers to assist with tasks during the HiNZ conference. In 2020, the volunteers will be working only within sessions and won't be required to do any delegate bag inserting. Tasks include:

  • Counting delegate numbers at each session
  • Assisting the session facilitators (volunteers are allocated to specific rooms for a few sessions each)
  • Coordinating speaker gifts at the end of a session.
  • Microphone running during question time.
  • And similar tasks...
