At the conclusion of the 2017 HiNZ Conference, we asked digital health journalist Rebecca McBeth to seek feedback from exhibitors and sponsors.

 

Exhibitors at HiNZ 2017 are busy following up their numerous new customer leads following a fantastic conference in Rotorua this month. More than 900 delegates and 75 exhibitors attended the Health Informatics New Zealand conference at Rotorua’s Energy Events Centre from November 1-3.

 

Dr Will Reedy, digital health lead at cloud services provider Revera, describes HiNZ 2017 as a “fantastic experience”. Spark and Revera came together on one stand for the first time at HiNZ and won the prize for best booth at the conference as voted by attendees and exhibitors.

 

Revera used the event to launch its dedicated digital health team and Dr Reedy says the conference exceeded expectations in terms of providing leads and new opportunities. He adds that the event was very well organised and the casual conference dinner at Rotorua Skyline was great for networking. “I have been at HiNZ about seven times over the last 15 years or so and this was the best one,” Dr Reedy says.

 

Revera also partnered with HiNZ and Waitemata DHB to bring e-Patient Dave deBronkart over from the US as a keynote speaker for the event. Dr Reedy says they will be looking to bring him back in 2018 to provide an update on progress on the e-Patient agenda.

 

Fingermark Health CEO David Hepburn used the annual event to launch patient-flow product, Florence. “At HiNZ, I was hopeful of getting three to four leads or next customers, but I had more than ten key sector leaders search me out after my presentation to hear my pitch and ask me to go see them, he says. “It’s been extraordinary: a really enjoyable few days.”


The Clinician’s CEO Ron Tenenbaum says many attendees were keen to hear about his company’s solution ZEDOC, which provides pre-configured and standardised Patient Reported Outcomes Measures questionnaires to patients via SMS, email or mobile app. “In three days, we have seen 75% of our target audience and had meaningful discussions with them. We are now looking forward to working on several large-scale projects that were discussed in these meetings,” Tenenbaum says.

 

Lynne Stephens, account manager at Microsoft New Zealand, says that attending HiNZ is a great investment for the company. She says that Microsoft had a positive response to their products and services on its stand and the conference is well run, with the HiNZ team doing a “fantastic job” and making life easy for exhibitors.

 

Anthony Cuoco, chief operating officer at Micromax Health, used the event to introduce ONYX medically approved computers and computing devices to New Zealand. He says that all the delegates who visited the booth and saw the ONYX products on display were enthusiastically impressed and the company has some very good new customer and partner leads. “We were extremely happy with the HiNZ event. It exceeded all expectations,” says Cuoco. “I am happy to say that it was one of the best organised exhibition events we have ever participated and attended. A special thank you to the HiNZ team.”
