Speakers:
At our fourth and final seminar on this topic we are very fortunate to have confirmed the attendance of Professor Trisha Greenhalgh (via video conference). Professor Greenhalgh is one of the world’s foremost authorities on shared electronic health records. Professor Greenhalgh led a team of researchers looking at the British National Health Service’s Summary Care Records Project which reported its findings in May 2008 (see BMJ article and full report).
We have also confirmed the attendance of Karen Gibson, General Manager Clinical Information – NEHTA (The Australian National e-Health Transition Agency). Karen has established the National Terminology Service and contributed to international work, including establishment of the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation, of which she is currently Deputy Chair. In her current role she is responsible for a range of strategic initiatives, including secondary uses of eHealth information and international liaison on eHealth issues.
Also speaking will be Dr Zoran Bolevich, Group Manager of Information Strategy and Architecture, New Zealand Ministry of Health. Zoran is responsible for formulating and implementing a Health Information Strategy for New Zealand, in conjunction with the wider health sector.
We have also invited Brian Rousseau and Dr Inga Hunter. Brian is CEO of the Southland and Otago District Health Boards. He has a strong interest in the practical application of information technology. Inga is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Health Information Systems at Massey University, and has been a practicing doctor for 20 years. Her interests include primary care informatics, electronic medical records, decision support systems knowledge management, privacy and confidentiality. Inga will present the preliminary findings of her soon to be published research into New Zealanders' attitudes towards access of electronic health records.
