Denmark is recognized internationally as the world leader in adoption of Primary Care Information Technology, perhaps surprisingly, New Zealand is not far behind Denmark. Recently a team of researchers from Denmark and New Zealand contributed to a research project led by Professor Denis Protti, Chair of Health Informatics, Victoria University, British Columbia. The first two parts of the study have been published in the British Computer Society’s journal “Informatics in Primary Care” (December 2008) You can read the editorial introducing the article series and the first two articles by following these links:
Ib Johansen (Deputy Director of Medcom) and his colleague Margit Rasmussen who is responsible for the national lab test order system: ‘Webreq’ will be in Auckland for meetings with HealthLink in mid-February.   To  find out more about world best practice in primary care IT adoption, join us
The Seminar:
-    Will have an informal format and be used to encourage open and frank discussion.
-   Will be used to present the findings of the Informatics in Primary Care Study and will provide some case studies of Danish Health Informatics, especially looking at the introduction of the highly successful ‘Webreq’ pathology test ordering system.
-   Will also critically examining the emergent finding that the most effective way to improve healthcare connectivity is via the ‘Health System Integrator’ model.
This seminar is a very important opportunity to learn about Denmark’s strategies for lifting the bar in terms of primary- care connectivity.
Interested? Please email Jenna Jacobsen jenna.jacobsen@healthlink.net with the names of intending attendees.
