HINZ Conference and Exhibition 2005

Welcome to the HINZ Conference & Exhibition 2005 2nd-5th August 2005

New Zealand is a world leader in technology innovation and has made its place for achievement in health information technologies. Examples include the unique patient identifier, web-based clinical information systems and Clinical Context Object Workgroup integration technology (CCOW), a vendor independent standard that allows clinical applications to share information at the point of care. New Zealand is one of the earliest adopters of Health Level Seven messaging standards for electronic laboratory results reporting.

Not content to rest on its laurels, New Zealand is forging ahead with new innovation such as the soon to be implemented unique provider identifier system and a continued effort to make important contributions to standards developments at the international level.

These successes are often better known to our international colleagues than among ourselves. Thus HINZ has dedicated the 2005 national health informatics conference to sharing of innovation ideas and experiences under a theme of "Telling the New Zealand Story"

On behalf of HINZ and the Scientific Program Committee (SPC), I would like to cordially invite you to participate in this exciting annual event. Valuable lessons can be learnt from these successful and the not so successful stories - they are all equally welcome!

The SPC has received submissions of scientific and discussion or concept papers on the following and other relevant health informatics topics:
