Advancing Knowledge for Quality Healthcare

For the first time in history, a two and a half day conference and exhibition has been organised jointly by four professional health related groups: Health Informatics NZ, NZ Health IT Cluster, NZ Institute of Health Management, NZHL7 Users Group along with the Ministry of Health & Industry New Zealand. This event will provide an open forum for interested parties delivering healthcare services to meet and share experiences on advancing healthcare knowledge and quality of service.

The New Zealand Institute of Health Management (NZIHM) is pleased to join with HINZ this year for the first time to present a conference for members and associates of both organisations. With rapid advances taking place in the area of technology and management of information within the health sector it is increasingly important for healthcare managers to maintain their knowledge base and keep up to date with trends and changes. NZIHM is confident that by attending this conference Managers will gain valuable information, new networks and new knowledge which will enhance their competency within the workplace.

The healthcare industry around the world has to operate within a complex and at times hostile environment created by diametrically opposing forces, such as surging consumerism and demands for services, exponentially increasing biomedical knowledge, and shrinking resources to name a few. Information and knowledge management technologies are double-edged swords – they can equip healthcare professionals with better information and knowledge source for effective delivery of healthcare services yet can further perpetuate the information/knowledge overload problem and significantly alter the consumer-provider relationship by making available, to consumers, huge volumes of biomedical knowledge. These issues are prime concerns of many healthcare professional groups, governments and consumers and will be addressed at this conference.

This conference will focus on (but not necessarily limited to)

  • Organization & management issues in healthcare services delivery and quality
  • Health informatics & contributions to quality healthcare delivery: the principles research, development implementation education.
