Vision, Rules and Regulations
Vision
Health Informatics New Zealand (HINZ) seeks to facilitate improved health care outcomes through the dissemination and utilisation of information, knowledge and technology.
Mission
To foster throughout New Zealand the development of knowledge and the utilisation of Informatics within all areas of clinical practice, education, and the provision of healthcare generally.
Goals
The HINZ Executive committee through consultation with our members has identified three key goals for our organisation. Each goal has a set of objectives and action points, which enables our organisation to obtain and maintain our purpose and service our members. These goals are dynamic representation of our organisation purpose and will evolve over time to reflect our changing internal and external environments.
3 Goals for HINZ:
- To promote the development and sharing of health informatics knowledge
- To influence Information Management & Technology policy (development and implementation) at organisational, regional, national and international levels
- To represent NZ and collaborate with international organisations
Rules and regulations
Collection, Storage and Dissemination of members' personal information
Personal information collected is required to maintain our membership database to communicate the business of the organisation with the members.
- Membership information is held in a central secure electronic format and has restricted access. The database is backed up regularly.
- The organisation will not use any personal details without taking appropriate steps to ensure the information is accurate. This is done annually through subscription renewal and at time of joining the organisation
- All members are entitled to request correction of their personal details at any time and are responsible for the updating of personal details outside of the annual update.
- Unique identifiers may be given to members to enable secure access to the membership only section of the organisations website
- Personal details may be given to other members or affiliated organisations for the purpose of dissemination of relevant information such as conferences and seminars or for seeking information. Requests for access to personal contact details must be received in writing and is reviewed and recommended (or not) by the executive committee.
- Individual members retain the right to not have their contact details shared outside the organisation
