Biography

Dr Michael Chen-Xu is a PGY3 medical registrar based in the Wellington region, and currently a Basic Trainee in Adult Internal Medicine with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).


Michael is currently an elected member of the New Zealand Medical Association (NZMA) Board, and Chair of the NZMA Health Information Technology Sub-committee. Michael has a strong interest in the role informatics can play in quality improvement and healthcare delivery, and the role of big data in the development of health and social policy. He is a past member of the NZMA Doctors-in-Training Council, and has a proven record of accomplishment and governance with the New Zealand Medical Students’ Association (NZMSA) as a former NZMSA President and Vice-President External.


Michael holds a MBChB from the University of Otago, and a BMedSc(Hons) on the role of platelet-expressed toll-like receptors in acute coronary syndromes from the University of Otago also.
