HINZ Conference Update
Planning is well under way for the 2013 HINZ Conference & Exhibition.
The theme this year is Health Informatics for the People.

Waikato Telehealth After 5
Opportunity Hamilton, in association with the NZ Telehealth Forum, are holding a Waikato Telehealth After Five event on Thursday June 28th. The programme includes a presentation of local and nearby examples of Telehealth in use, followed by an establishment process for a regional working group to promote Telehealth across the Waikato.

The latest issue of the IT Health Board's newsletter Towards 2014 is available now, including:

National Health IT Board releases new ebooklet
The National Health IT Board has released an ebooklet, Towards Better Access to Information about our Health.
The ebooklet features case studies that highlight information technology making a difference to sharing patient information and improving patient care on the front line.
MIE2011 early bird registration closing soon
Remember that early bird registration for Medical Informatics Europe 2011 closes on 1 May.
As a HINZ member, you also qualify for the EFMI discount.
Health Informatics education options in NZ
HINZ has launched its Students Working Group, with a round-up of Health Informatics-related education opportunities at NZ universities. We hope to expand the list as opportunities grow.

The children at Christchurch Hospital say Wahoo to a Wii
At the HINZ conference in Wellington late last year, John Wilkinson of Canterbury DHB visited the Datacom stand and won a Nintendo Wii for his chosen Childrens’ Ward. John who is a Decision Support Manager at Canterbury DHB decided to give the game console to the children in the Childrens Ward at Christchurch hospital.

Updated National Health IT Plan
A draft National Health IT Plan was released on Friday 24th April.
Following sector feedback the plan has been updated, and is now available here.
National Clinical Leadership Group renamed
The National Clinical Leadership Group has been renamed the National Information Clinical Leadership Group (NICLG).
The latest National Health IT Plan covers the projects that the NICLG have been working on, and their future priorities.
New Award Available
The biennial Clinton Bedogni Prize for Open Systems will be awarded for the first time in 2010 to the New Zealand individual (whether from academia or industry) who has made the greatest contribution to the field of Open Systems in the past two years.
